It’s disgusting imho, £50g a year is plenty, many manage on much much less.

My last CEO was a proper tool, I know we all say that but it’s true in this case. He knew everything, you couldn’t tell him anything and for a welder, according to him, had more degrees than the girl band. I was usually the first in and one morning I noticed the accountant had left the wages spreadsheet in glorious colour out on her desk. Not being one to nosy I quickly photocopied it for later perusal. It turns out the above tool was on £110g/yr + a large company car and expense account. Considering my engineers made about £45g/yr by working lots of overtime I think his wages were ridiculous. He got heave hoed in the end for drink driving unfortunately after I retired, I would have loved to see it

It usually goes that the most useless among us are the ones who get the better deals, very often the only way to get rid of someone is to promote them.
